Camel Ride โ€” 1 Day & 1 Night

Travel the desert as the Bedouin always have. A patient, swaying journey through Wadi Um Ishrin, ancient inscriptions, and a night around the fire.

1 day, 1 night ยท 9:30 AM check-in โ†’ 8:00 AM check-out

Camels were the original Bedouin highway. A full day on camelback covers less ground than a jeep, but the desert reveals itself differently โ€” slower, closer to the sand, with the rhythm of an animal that has survived this landscape for thousands of years.

We start with a short training session โ€” how to mount, how to sit, how to descend without falling. The morning takes you through Wadi Um Ishrin, up the Al-Hasany dune for views, and to the Anfishiyyeh rock wall, where Thamudic hunters carved their stories two and a half millennia ago.

A packed lunch in the shade. The afternoon visits Lawrence House, Little Bridge, Khazali Canyon. By 6 PM (or sunset, whichever comes first) you are at camp. Bedouin dinner, stargazing, sleep โ€” and the slow return the next morning.

Where you sleep

Choose between a traditional Bedouin tent at our camp, outdoor sleeping under the open sky beside the camp, or โ€” for a small additional 15 JOD/person โ€” a quiet bivouac beneath an overhanging rock formation we call the cave. Each option includes mattresses, sleeping bags, blankets and Bedouin tea. Mixed sleeping arrangements (tent + outdoor for two people) add 5 JOD/person.

Add-ons

Optional extras

Pre-tour overnight

Arrive the day before and check in at sunset. Transfer to camp, dinner, breakfast, drinks and one night included. 30 JOD/person (40 JOD for solo travellers). Ideal if you are coming from Amman or Madaba.

Good to know

A full day in the saddle is a physical effort. Most untrained riders feel some soreness in the legs, back or seat. If this concerns you, ask us about shorter 1โ€“2 hour camel rides instead. Children under 7 cannot ride the full day. Most camel handlers speak limited English; office and camp staff are fully fluent.
